What is the Significance of Ramnavami?

Ramnavami is the celebration of the birth of Lord Rama. Rama was born to Dasharatha and Kaushalya. Dasharatha did the Ashwamedha yaga. Dasha means 10, Ratha mean chariot. Spiritually it represents 10 senses, - 5 Jnanendriyas and 5 Karmendriyas. Kaushalya means skill. Shwa means neither yesterday nor tomorrow, meaning ‘Now’ the present moment, When our sense organs and mind are skillfully brought to the present moment, Rama is born. Ra means radiance and ma means within me, i.e the light with in me. When we do our Sadhana everyday and bring the mind to the present moment, Rama is born!

ita represents the mind (which is wavering) She went after the deer. Lakshmana represents our awareness. Ravana is our ego. Hanuman is the prana/ breath. When the wavering mind gets kidnapped by Ego (Ravana), with the help of awareness (Lakshmana) and breath - Sudarshan kriya (hanuman), the mind gets restored back to the self.- Sita is brought back to Rama. So Ramayana is happening everyday within us:)
