Answer: Holding onto something is the cause of attachment. Can you hold onto/ be attached to your body forever? One day your body drops you. How about mind? You can never hold onto you mind. Its constantly changing. How about wealth, position and power ? They are temporary. How about relationships? They don’t stay for ever. If your connection with your ( hold onto your self) own self is strong, then everything appears ephemeral to you. If our connection with our own self is weak , that is when we want to hold onto people, situation and objects externally. That is the root cause of attachment and misery. Just like the space around, it is everywhere but it s not attached to anything. Got it? Holding onto that unchanging aspect within our self is meditation. That is why meditation gives a broader outlook and makes us stronger and will not let us be attached towards anything or anybody.
