Controlling thoughts will just end up giving more importance to them. They will come back ten times stronger. Because at the level of the mind, what you resists, persists. Do not try to control thoughts without a tool. Breath is a very powerful tool. Doing Pranayam, Meditation , breathing in a specific rhythm will help in having a say over your mind and thoughts. Mostly unwanted thoughts come to you when your work load is less and idle time is more. The more we sit without any activity, the more thoughts come to us.Drink plenty of water, do yoga, gym, running, meditation, sports, listen to music, get creative, spend time with nature, develop a hobby and you will find bad thoughts will eventually subside. Watch your food habits and bowel moment, Include fresh fruits and vegetables. Spend time out in the sun. Check your Vitamin D and B12 levels. More importantly relax. Get old sleep. Stop excess use of gadgets or watching TV. Spend time out in the nature. Work/Study and do whatever that keeps you busy.
