How can celibacy affect mental power?

Celibacy or in sanskrit Bharmacharya means ( ‘charya’) moving in infinity ( Brahman). Which simply means think with the big mind - love, joy, happiness, kindness, compassion, enthusiasm, intelligence etc rather than the small mind - jealousy, greed, lust, anger, inertia etc.

So celibacy is not just abstaining from sex in terms of action, but also having a say over the thoughts and not to dwell on lust, anger, jelousy etc. Excessive indulgence of any of the 5 senses results in dullness, loss of creativity, inertia.

When one goes inwards and takes his mind beyond the five senses he will get access to source of happiness , joy, creativity , intelligence. A yogi or a meditator does this by transforming this energy into higher plane of existence.

On a spiritual path, with constant practice of yoga, meditation, pranayama the sublimation of sexual energy happens effortlessly. It is not a practice per se. Being in the presence of a master, involved in good company, watching our food in take this celibacy happens effortlessly. In fact without a proper guide when you restrain this, it will case more harm.

We have different subtle energy channels( nadi) in our system. When one is a celibate with regular practice of meditation, different nadir open up. One such nadi is Medha nadi or buddi nadi. It is said, one can solve the more complicated problems easily. The intuition develops ( sixth sense) , He will have retentive memory ( memory of life times together), his learnability and analytical skill are at its maximum. A human being will realize his fullest potential - merging with universal consciousness and get access to highest source of intelligence, bliss, joy, happiness.
